Audren took his sword out of it's sheath and looked at it as he walked along.

He looked at the tattered brown grip on it, burned from earlier.

He took off the brown cloth with ease, threw it down behind him and sheathe the sword.

The lamp was an inanimate object, only the flame's flickering was a form of response, if you could call it that.
