An Ignoble Tale (Act 2.1)

She looked to the people passing by.

There didn't seem to be anyone out of the ordinary around, except for...wait...

Axel turned to his left.

She looked over at him.

He looked over at her.

"We need to go, right now," he said quietly.

"Okay?..."

"I may sound a bit crazy right now, but I will explain things when we get out of this town or at least to a place where they can't recognize me."

He adjusted his hood so it would hopefully hide his head better.

She sighed. "Okay."

He had both hands on the sides of his hood to keep it down as he walked around trying to find the nearest road out of the town.

She just followed him around now.

Thankfully, they weren't stuck walking in circles like before, and Axel found his way out of the town some minutes later and came to rest against a tree.

She walked over to him and raised an eyebrow.

He took off his hood and looked at her.

"Okay, damned if I can actually remember. But did I ever tell you about what I was involved in before well..." He tapped his fingers against the tree. "you came along?"

She kept her hood on and her ears moves a bit in thought. "Uh... If you did then I forgot," she said with a slight shrug.

"Okay, I was sort of involved with otherworldly beings. Not beings really, demons. Not the regular kind either, these guys were a bit more..." He looked around for a moment. "Sleazy, you could say."

"Uh huh... So are they following you or something?"

"It has been three years since I last associated myself with them, so I have not a clue as to what they want with me. All I know is that we need to stay away for both of our sake. They aren't exactly dangerous, just not the most desirable to be around." Axel said, looking behind the tree he was standing against.

"Uh, okay..."

He said nothing further and put his head against the tree.

She sighed and looked back towards the town. "So what do we do now?"

"I stand here and think about things for a while, and you do well, whatever I guess."

He said, sighing.

"Sounds cool," she said, walking past him and into the trees.

Axel stood with his head against the tree and pondered things for a while, particularly relating to his former cohorts whom he almost confronted shortly ago.

She kind of just walked around, yawning a bit.

He sighed, tapping his fingers against the tree.

She came to a small clearing and she sat on a small boulder by a tree, looking at the ground in thought.
