An Ignoble Tale (Act 1.1)

"...What's this?" she asked Audren.

He looked at her in a slightly surprised way.

She looked to him, lowering her ears slightly. "...What?"

"You don't know what that means?" He said, pointing at the sign.

She looked to the sign, then at Audren again, shaking her head. "I don't..."

He sighed. "Basically, it means we have a place to stay for the time being. There's also the potential chance of getting some brief idea of where we actually are."

"That's a lot for a small sign," she said, looking back at it.

Audren ignored her, pushing open the door into the Inn.

She frowned, following him.

There were some chairs and tables strewn about the place, along with windows on each side of the building. Also up front was a small bartender's area with some stools. The place was kind-of lit by lamps hanging from the ceiling.

He noticed who was assumed to be the InnKeeper standing at the bar table.

"Whoa..." Violet said quietly, looking around the inn. She'd never been in a place like this before; the only time she's gone into buildings was to steal clothes.

He walked up to the table, resting his hands on it. The innkeeper looked up, saw Audren and Violet, and was a bit surprised at what seemed to be two ratty-looking teenagers had walked into his inn.

Violet wandered the around a bit, looking at the lamps above in near wonder.

The inn owner observed Audren for a moment, looking at his bloodied cheek and crudely stitched up trench coat.

Violet looked over at the inn owner.

He then turned his attention to the odd girl with the ratty and matted hair.

She watched the man, eyeing him carefully.

He tapped his fingers on the counter, looking at them both.
"So, I assume you're here to either rob me, or actually pay for your rooms if you intend to stay since I barely get visitors at this time of night."

"Uh..." Violet looked to Audren.

"No. If we were going to rob you we, or I at least would have done it already with some caution and haste. We have come here seeking a room or two since my friend here hasn't exactly had the best week."
Audren explained.

Violet glanced at Audren, then looked back to the inn keeper.

"Unfortunately neither of us have money on hand, so we'll just hand over our weapons to you as a sort of pay for.." He glanced over at Violet. "One or two rooms?"

Violet looked to Audren. "I don't... really know about that..."

"Right," Audren held out his hand to her. "hand me your knives."

Violet hesitated, then shook her head. "No..."
