An Ignoble Tale (Act 1.1)

He was still tampering with the flame, which had now reduced itself to a spark.

She hugged her knees tightly, still sniffling a bit.

Audren silently listened to her, frowning.

She pressed her face to her knees, trying to calm herself totally.

"Hm,"

She wiped her nose, shutting her eyes.

He looked around, watching the field.

She just stayed like that.

He looked in Violet's direction and walked over to her.

She was humming very softly to herself.

He knelt down and pat her head.

"Shhh..."

She leaned against him slightly.

He faintly smiled, sighing.

She lifted her head a bit, wiping her face.

"You feeling at least a little better now..?"

She gave a small nod.

He looked around, taking his hand off Violet's head, standing up, and going to pick up his overturned sheathe.

She fixed her hair a bit.

Audren set his sheathe against the tree, then looked back at Violet.

She looked at the carvings on the tree, then pulled her knife from the trunk. She got to her feet, replacing the knife on her belt.

"Hm," He observed the carvings in the tree.

She turned away from him, looking off at the sky.

He couldn't see any distinguishable patterns/shapes in the carvings, so he just ignored them and proceeded to lean against the tree.

The carvings were just seemingly random lines and curves, the only thing that stood out about them was that it was symmetrical. Violet stuck her hands in her pockets.

Audren thought about what could have possibly set her off like that, since she had seemed content the last time he saw her before this morning.
